We’re only a couple weeks back into normal life after the summer, but I’m missing it like crazy! Summer is my all-time favourite season- I often feel that I practically live for summer!
For me (like most people) this summer was pretty different from most of my normal ones. I’m used to spending my summers in Michigan, spending time with family and friends, enjoying the lake and eating wayyy too much ice cream! But this year, we didn’t get to go back and visit everyone or do any of the things we normally do. And as the summer came to a close, I was dreading returning to school and everyday life, because I knew it would mean another whole year before I (hopefully) get to see some of my favourite people in the world again. In some ways, it almost felt like my heart was nearly 4000 miles away, and my body was living here in the UK.
The truth that I would have to live through a full year of normality before going to Michigan again hit me hard- I was dreading September and the return to normal life. But slowly I came to the realization that my fall, and my winter, and my spring can be awesome and, whilst certainly not perfect, I can definitely have a pretty darn good time! What I realized, and what I want to share with you, is that I can’t live my life counting down until the next thing to come- my birthday… Christmas break… and finally next summer.
I need to appreciate the moment and take each day as it comes. I don’t need to love each day and every day doesn’t need to feel like summer, but I need to be grateful for each new day and make the most of the next 10 months!
With that in mind, I got to brainstorming all the things I have to look forward to this fall! I wanted to share my ideas with you guys, in the hope that I can inspire some of you to make the most of this fall- especially if you’re not looking forward to it- or remind you of all the awesomeness that comes with this season!
