2021 Bucket List

2021 is going to be a year I won’t forget. I decided that right at the beginning of January when I picked out my word for the year and set myself some goals to work towards. 2020 might not have been quite the year which we had expected, and I let that throw me off. However, I decided I’m going to make this year better.

So far this year, I haven’t been to school. I haven’t seen most of my friends. I haven’t been out of my town. I haven’t left the house every day. I haven’t done anything ‘fun’. I haven’t done anything worth remembering.

And I could let that fact get me down. I’ll be honest… sometimes I have felt down in the dumps because my year didn’t get off to the start I’d hoped for. But my word for 2021 was ‘live’, and I am going to do everything I can to live to the fullest this year, whether or not it’s in a national lockdown.

So, that said, I thought it would be fun to share a few things off of my JUMBO bucket list for this year! I’ve added all sorts of things, in the hope that whatever the climate, I might be able to check off a least some of the items!

  • Pull an all-nighter
My friend Emma and I haven’t had a sleepover in ages, and one of the top things on my bucket list is to have a sleepover with her and stay up all night watching movies. We have a list of movies she wants me to watch, so I can’t wait for us to be able to sleepover again so we can work our way through them!
  • Go to Starbucks in America
Covid permitting obviously but if my family and I are able to go to Michigan in the summer, I really want to go with my friend to Starbucks so I can get certain items off the menu which you can’t get in the UK.

  • Soho, London trip
When it’s safe again, I desperately want to visit Soho, London! Everything there is so cool, but I especially want to take a trip to Oseyo, a Korean grocery store. And less than 10 minutes away from the Korean store is a bubble tea café which sells bubble tea AND bubble waffles!!! I am so hoping I get a chance to check it out!
  • Fill up my thankful jar
Last year I took a big mason jar and tried to fill it with as many little happy notes as I could. On the happy notes I wrote things from my day that had filled me with joy; something from nature… a conversation I’d had… something I’d done. Last year though, I didn’t fill it up. So this year, I want to put as many happy things in it as I can!
  • Take a trip to some Lavender fields
Possibly my favourite day of the summer last year was when my mom took my sisters and me to some lavender fields not too far away from where we live. I’m hoping that we’ll be able to do this again this summer… it was such a beautiful day and I had so much fun!

  • Camping trip to my friend’s garden
One of my sisters and I went camping last summer… in our friend’s garden! There was five of us and we had SO much fun social-distance camping in our huge tent in their garden! We played games and watched movies and cooked our meals… that’s another thing I’m hoping to do again this summer!
  • London day trip
Another London trip I’ve wanted to do for a while is to visit a particular book shop which is near this gorgeous cupcake shop I desperately want to check out! I am a huge cupcake fan and I have a friend who is a huge book fan, so if restrictions allow, this will be such a fun day trip and such a nice was to see someone I haven’t seen as much as I would’ve liked this past year!
  • Swim in Lake Michigan
Once again, this is obviously Covid permitting, but the lake in one of my favourite places in the world and I so missed swimming in it last summer. So this year, if we are able to go to Michigan, you will find me spending plenty of time on the sandy shores of the beautiful Lake Michigan!

So there you have it, just a few of the things of my 2021 bucket list! I hope I’ll be able to check off at least a few of these things, but either way, 2021 is gonna be a great year, I’m sure of that!

What’s on your bucket list for the year?

  2. Ooh, those lavender fields are absolutely darling 🥰 I can just imagine traipsing through in a summery white dress and having a picnic somewhere!

Also, question for you! I know you’re American/British. Hopefully I’ve got that right! Do you have a dual citizenship for the States and England or is it just your heritage? x

    1. I know, they’re absolutely gorgeous! I can’t wait for the lavender to flower this summer so I can go back!

Yes, so my mom is American and my dad is British- I was born in England but I have dual citizenship and two passports which is quite fun! x

      1. Yes, that sounds so blissful. The little bunch of lavender I have in my room is perfectly fragrant.

Ah, that’s so interesting! I ask about the dual citizenship because that’s what I’m interested in. Although I assume you were pretty much born with that or it was applied for when you were very small. Since my partner is in the states we’ve been exploring lots of different options for the years to come! Best of both worlds truly. I have all my family here so giving up citizenship entirely isn’t what I’d want.

        1. Yes, it’s an interesting thing! Yes- I’ve had dual citizenship my whole life, and like you said, it really is the best of both worlds! I hope you discover some good options for you and your partner, sweet Maryam. Much love xx
