To The Girl

To the girl.

To the girl who lays awake at night wondering if things will ever get better, you are seen.

To the girl who stares at her shoes during gym class, hoping that this time she won’t get picked last, you are seen.

To the girl who tries to shrink into the shadows, you are seen.

To the girl who waits for her phone screen to light up with a message, even though she doubts it will, you are seen.

To the girl who can’t understand why she isn’t good enough for her parents, you are seen.

To the girl who doesn’t wear shorts- even in summer- so no one will see her awkward legs, you are seen.

To the girl who doesn’t know why nobody wants to be friends with her, you are seen.

To the girl who looks at her reflection in the mirror and tears up at what she sees, you are seen.

To the girl who eats lunch by herself every day, you are seen.

To the girl who doesn’t invite friends over because she’s afraid of what she’ll find each time she unlocks the door, you are seen.

To the girl who doesn’t know if she’ll be able to get out of bed the next morning, you are seen.

To the girl who feels like there isn’t a soul in the world who cares about her, you are seen.

To the girl who surrounds herself with people and makes loud jokes so that no one sees how lonely she is, you are seen.

To the girl who looks at her empty bank account and knows there’s no way she’ll be able to afford college next year, you are seen.

To the girl who makes plans after school just so that she doesn’t have to go home, you are seen.

To the girl who is crushed because once again, she didn’t make the team, you are seen.

To the girl working two jobs after school just to make sure her brothers and sisters have enough to eat, you are seen.

To the girl who plasters on a smile so that no one sees how she feels inside, you are seen.

To the girl who wears long sleeves year-round to cover up her scars, you are seen.

To the girl who feels like a piece of her heart is missing, you are seen.

To the girl who tells her friends ‘I ate earlier’ so that they don’t catch on to the fact she hasn’t been eating, you are seen.

To the girl who doesn’t know if she can hold on much longer, you are seen.

To the girl who tried and tried again to end it all, you are so, so seen.

To the girl, YOU ARE SEEN.

You are seen, and you are loved. You are loved by the God of the universe. The God who created the stars and flung them into position. The God who knit you together, strand by strand, in your mother’s womb and filled you with intention and purpose. The God who has your name engraved on His hand and who has a beautifully woven plan for your life. He loves you, and you are His.

You may not believe me. You may think that the God I believe in is just a fairy tale; a fantasy. But whether you think that or not, I pray with every single fibre of my being that you, sweet, gorgeous, precious girl know that you are loved.

You are loved beyond measure.

  1. I had to read this when I saw the title, and I’m so glad I did! This is really powerful, and I’m going to mull over it over the day. Although I’m normally always happy, recently I’ve been going up and down emotionally, and this is an amazing reminder of one thing that DOES stay stable – the love and constancy of God. ❤❤ Amazing post!! (Ahhh, your beautiful writing!)

    1. Sweet Makayla, thank you! Yes, I just love thinking about how steady and unchanging the love of our God is! What amazing knowledge is it?! I get what you mean about periods of emotional up and downs- I’ve feel that, I’ll be praying that you are grounded in Gods love and constancy! Again, thank you! ❤️❤️
