One Year of Not So Perfect!!

Friends!! I have something SO exciting to tell you… I’m sure you managed to guess it from the title but: NOT SO PERFECT IS TURNIG ONE!!! It feels SO crazy to think I’ve has this little space for exactly one whole year today!!!

It honestly doesn’t feel like 12 months ago that I hit that ‘make public’ button on the website, created the Instagram account and posted the ‘Not So Perfect is live!!’ pin on Pinterest. CRAZY!

I remember my first post (*cringes inwardly*)… I think that it’s fair to say my writing has come on a little bit since then! On that first day I actually published FOUR posts total… the most I’ve ever done at once, but I won’t link the other three here… I leave it up to you to dig for them if you’re interested, haha! After those first four posts were up, I’ve managed to post 1-2 times pretty much every week since then! In fact, this post is my 73rd!

I remember writing my first guest post… and having my first guest post written for me!

I remember discovering some of my favourite blogs… including this one and this one and this one!

Then there was my most liked post… and my personal favourite.

There was the post with my favourite photography, and also the one with my favourite graphic designs!

But the thing about all of these posts… and in fact the whole journey I’ve been on with this blog over the past 365 days is this: I never planned it.

It just sort of happened.

The original idea that I scribbled down into an empty composition notebook something in February 2020 was no representation of what Not So Perfect is now. I never planned to talk so much about Jesus. I never planned to love doing this so much. I never planned to write for other blogs. I never planned to make friends and sisters through the blogging community. I never planned to intern for another blog. I never planned to talk about Jesus on Instagram. I never really planned any of this!

It all just sort of happened.

Day by day, I fell in love with blogging. I prayed about it. I thought about it. I wrote what I felt on my heart and not what I had in my head. I wrote as it came to me… not just when I had to. See, this- all that you see now- is just the way it turned out.

Except, it’s not ‘just the way it turned out’.

Because, one year in, I’ve realised something. This was never a ME thing, it was always a GOD thing! This might not have been MY plan all along, but I’m pretty sure it was something along the lines of HIS!!! How cool are the ways in which God works!!

I am BEYOND thankful for this blog and the ways it has helped grow over the past year. I’m so thankful for the community and the opportunities. I am so thankful for the friends I’ve made and the experiences I’ve had. But friends, most of all, I am thankful for all of YOU… for reading, for following along, for your uplifting comments, for chatting with me at the bottom, for your lovely emails and really just for being here!

So, here’s to another year of Not So Perfect! I can’t wait to see where God takes us!

You know what’s funny is that since I started following I thought you’d been doing this for ages, years and years, you sounded so professional and your posts were so good.
